Cops still searching for missing autistic teen

Cops investigating the disappearance of a missing, mute autistic teen swarmed a Greenwich Village address Sunday after a possible sighting.

After a man on the street told police that he thought he spotted 14-year-old Avonte Oquendo shortly after 8 a.m., investigators visited an apartment building at 88 Greenwich St., where they asked for surveillance video.

But a concierge at the building said the camera was not pointed at the street, and didn’t pick up any activity outside.

Cops talked to other people in the neighborhood, and a helicopter hovered above the scene.

Avonte Oquendo was seen on a school surveillance video leaving the Center Boulevard School in Long Island City, Queens, around 12:30 p.m Oct. 4.

Police have checked subway tunnels because Avonte’s family said the boy is fascinated by the subway system. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has been making frequent announcements to riders about the search.

A reward fund for information leading to Avonte’s safe return has reached $ 60,000, including $ 50,000 from an anonymous donation to the advocacy group Autism Speaks.
