Drunkard drives wrong way down NY highway

Drivers on the Long Island Expressway narrowly avoided disaster Wednesday by swerving out of the way of an alleged drunk driving the wrong way on the busy highway, cops said.

Suffolk cops busted a tipsy Warren Levine, 62, of Kane Avenue in Medford about 10:30 p.m. near Exit 64 in Medford after he was spotted driving his 2010 Honda westbound in the eastbound lanes, police said.

“Vehicles in the eastbound lanes were forced to swerve out of the path of the Honda to avoid collisions,” cops said in a statement.

The wrong-way goofball was charged with DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, cops said.

He was locked up at the Sixth Precinct and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Thursday.
