Former model blows off ‘mugging’ incident in court

The former “Project Runway” contestant charged with falsely claiming that she was mugged by an armed hobo at a Murray Hill bodega blew off the bizarre incident Friday in Manhattan court.

“It’s ridiculous,” said blond bombshell Morgan Quinn, 31, after pleading not guilty and getting released without bail. “This has already been a horrible experience for me and this is making it so much worse.”

“That’s some outfit for court!” bellowed a male admirer as the one-time Harper’s Bazaar cover girl strutted out of the proceeding wearing a fur vest over a fire engine red dress as she clutched a Louis Vuitton bag.

Known for her hysterical meltdowns on the hit show now airing on Lifetime, Quinn told cops that a tall homeless black man followed her from a deli to the front of 224 E. 28th St in August.

He “pulled out a pointy object” and threatened her before forcing her inside the building and up to a fifth-floor stairwell, she told cops. The panhandler then swiped her purse and a cocktail ring worth $ 2,000 before shoving her down the stairs, she claimed.

Quinn went to the 13th Precinct station house to file a report and cops canvassed the neighborhood for the supposed perp — but came up empty. They found her purse sans cash a week later.

Cops got suspicious after Quinn later claimed that the pricey bauble was actually valued at $ 5000.

Police reviewed surveillance video at the location but found no evidence of the phantom stickup.

“[The] defendant was following the above described individual, as opposed to being followed by that individual,” video footage showed, according to the criminal complaint. “[she] appeared to enter the above location with that individual of her own free will.”

A detective returned the purse to the model at her penthouse apartment on Central Park West on Aug. 23 and issued a desk-appearance ticket for filing a false ¬police report.

“I have no idea what my objective would be,” she said. “There was no insurance claim. Why would I lie about this?”

Quinn’s defense lawyer demanded access to the video evidence.

“If they have the video they should show it to me immediately,” said David Kennedy. “Furthermore if there’s other video out there we want to see it because it will prove Morgan Quinn’s the victim, she was robbed. We hope the DA’s office does the right thing.”
