Obama: Brooklyn’s P-TECH Setting The Stage For Student Success

President Barack Obama visited a Brooklyn school Friday where he urged students to strive for the best in their education in order to compete in an increasingly tech-driven global economy.

The president spoke at Pathways in Technology Early College High School in Crown Heights.

Graduates receive a high school diploma and an associate’s degree in computers or engineering.

In his State of the Union address in February, Obama mentioned the school and praised it for the way it prepares students for the working world.

The Secret Service says the northwest quadrant of Prospect Park will be closed from noon to 6 p.m. during the president’s visit.

Initial reports had said the entire park would be closed.

After his trip to Brooklyn, the president will attend two Democratic fundraisers in Manhattan before returning to the White House.
