Police Arrest Cousin In Connection With Death Of ‘Baby Hope’

Police announced Saturday the arrest of a man in connection with the death of a young girl who became known as “Baby Hope.”

According to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, Conrado Juarez, 52, of the Bronx was apprehended Friday afternoon by the Bronx Violent Felony Squad.

According to investigators, Juarez admitted to sexually assaulting and smothering 4-year-old Angelica Castillo in Queens before disposing of her body in a cooler.

The young girl’s body was found near the Henry Hudson Parkway in July 1991.

The girl weighed just 25 pounds when she was found.

Police say Juarez, who is a cousin of Castillo, was aided in disposing of the body by his sister, who is now deceased.

Earlier this month, police announced that they identified Castillo’s mother through DNA testing.

Her arms were tied, and she appeared to have been starved, beaten and abused.

This summer, police recently renewed their push to solve this case, releasing photos to the media.

Police say an anonymous tip led them to the mother.
