Police in Brooklyn are investigating after a mother and her 11-day-old infant were found dead this morning in a freak tragedy, sources tell NY1.
The 34-year-old woman, sources say, was found unconscious on top of the baby inside the bedroom of their home located at 50 Legion Street in Brownsville.
Sources say there were no signs of trauma and that the mother likely died from natural causes.
Sources say the baby appeared to have been suffocated.
Two other children who were home at the time were unharmed.
The discovery was made by the woman’s brother, who sources say also lives at the same address.
The Medical Examiner is working to determine the exact causes of death.
