Teen, 17, Shot And Killed In Bronx: Shooter Sought

Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly shot and killed a teen in the Bronx.

It happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday in front of 2622 Jerome Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights.

Police say they found 17-year-old Michael Beltre shot in the face when they arrived on the scene.

They believe he was having a conversation with a group of people when shots were fired.

Those NY1 spoke with said that Beltre was a good kid.

“He was focused on his school stuff. He wasn’t cheapin’ in the streets or none of that,” said one. “He was a good kid. He was a good kid. He was always in school. Funny kid.”

“He was a very quiet guy,” said another. “He would come here after school and then go to play baseball.”

Sources say he may have known his attacker.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
