City moms are pulling out their hair since their favorite place to vent online – Urbanbaby.com — has been clogged up with spam.
The go-to site for NYC parents to post anonymous discussions on everything from local private school gossip to advice on dealing with a hot babysitter is littered with foreign messages and pornographic images that one user described as “so gross that you will want to throw up.”
“Crazy opinions are allowed, weird Russian spam and poop porn is not,” one user posted.
These moms are having melt downs without a place to post their every thought and worry. Some have asked users to meet them on WordPress blogs they’ve created like http://www.urbanmomtalk.com, that is described as “spam-free snark.”
Others sound downright depressed.
“Now I know what it felt like to stand on the lido deck of the Titanic,” one user posted.
“The music is playing!” another chimed in.
One mom said she “might have to read a book” to get over her boredom. Others have left sentimental posts.
“I will miss you UB friends,” one mom said.
“I never thought I could feel nostalgic about the ignorant and mean-spirited bitches who inhabit this site, but you keep me on my toes and grateful that my life is not as f–ked up as yours. Thanks for all the laughs!” said another user.
CBS interactive, who operates the site, has been taking the heat from its loyal users. Many claim to have filed legal complaints against the company.
“CBS has not done anything about even though a lot of the followers have complained to them,” one angry mom e-mailed the Post.
“How can CBS ignore the situation?”
CBS hasn’t returned our request for comment.
