David Wilson could miss several more games beyond Thursday night in Chicago.
Brandon Jacobs is expected to make his first start in nearly two years tonight. And it may not be his last.
The 31-year-old running back could hold onto the job for several weeks, depending on what former starter David Wilson hears on Monday when he gets a second opinion on his injured neck. Wilson is out of the Giants’ Thursday night game in Chicago and there are fears, according to a source familiar with his situation, that he might miss another few weeks, too.

Wilson suffered his neck injury in the first half of the Giants’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday and after the game said he didn’t believe it was serious. But as the Daily News reported on Tuesday, he will get a second opinion anyway. According to the source, that will come from Dr. Robert Watkins, a spinal surgeon in Los Angeles.
Wilson, the Giants’ first-round pick in 2012, has had a very difficult start to his first season as a starter, rushing for just 146 yards on 44 carries through five games. With Wilson out, Jacobs will likely split carries against the Bears with Da’Rel Scott, whom the Giants cut last week only to re-sign one week later.
