Investigators Probing If Father-Son Deaths Were Murder-Suicide

The city’s medical examiner is working to determine whether a man and his young son who plunged from a Manhattan high-rise Saturday died in a murder-suicide.

The father has been identified 35-year old Dmitriy Kanarikov of Brooklyn.

His son was identified as 3-year-old Kirill Kanarikov.

According to police, the child’s mother had custody of the boy and was supposed to pick him up from a scheduled visit with his father on Saturday.

Instead, the father took his son to the roof of a 52-story building on West 60th Street.

Police believe he tossed the boy from the roof, then jumped himself.

The father’s body was found a short time later on the roof of a nearby building.

The boy was found alive on another building, but later died at Roosevelt Hospital.

It’s still not clear why the father chose the building where the incident happened, though police say a friend of his may have once lived there.
