2 bodies pulled from water near Hoboken

Two bodies were pulled from the Hudson River Sunday morning, hours after witnesses reported seeing two young men disappear into the water.

The victims, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, went into the water off the shores of Hoboken around 5:45 a.m., Sunday, officials said. It’s unclear how or why they went into the river but one man allegedly followed the other, jumping in soon after the first victim became entirely submerged, authorities added.

NYPD divers found the bodies and pulled them out around 8 a.m., officials said. Hoboken Police and the U.S. Coast Guard were also on-scene.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released and their ages have not been confirmed.
