Co-Founder of Grimaldi’s Famous Pizza Dies at 75

A legend in the world of city pizza has passed away.

Carol Grimaldi lost her battle with cancer on Thursday according to her family.

She founded the original Grimaldi’s Pizza with her husband Patsy in the DUMBO section of Brooklyn in 1990.

The restaurant’s coal fired pizza quickly gained a reputation as one of the best in the city.

The Grimaldis sold the business and retired in 1999, but returned to Brooklyn in late 2012 with Juliana’s Pizza.

Carol Grimaldi was 75.
