Sources: Police Shoot and Kill Elderly Queens Man After He Shot Daughter

Police have shot and killed a man in Queens after they say he shot a woman, who sources confirm is his daughter.

The incident occurred on 38th Street in Long Island City on Saturday.

Sources say the victims are a man in his 80s and his daughter, a woman in her 60s. The woman was shot in the head and is in critical condition at Elmhurst Hospital.

According to sources, the man called 9-1-1 to say he had shot his daughter and dog, and wanted to kill himself. When police arrived he was still holding the weapon, a shotgun. They asked him to put it down, but he turned and pointed the firearm at an officer, prompting the officers to fire at least one shot.

Both victims were transported to the hospital where the man was pronounced dead.

The dog, a brown Yorkshire Terrier, is being treated by the ASPCA for a neck laceration. The two officers were being treated for ringing in the ears.
