Sen. Charles Schumer wants the federal government to investigate Target after the company’s massive security breach.
The retailer has confirmed that credit card data for as many as 40 million customers may have been compromised by hackers.
The state attorney general’s office has already convinced Target to provide free credit monitoring services to New Yorkers who may be victims of the fraud.
Now, Schumer is urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to launch a probe into the incident.
Schumer will discuss the issue at a press conference Sunday afternoon.
