Jury selection wrapped up Monday in the latest terror trial taking place in Lower Manhattan.
Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, also known as Abu Hamza al Masri, is charged with conspiring to support al-Qaeda.
Prosecutors say he tried to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon, and helped kidnap two Americans and 14 other people in Yemen.
His attorneys say the government is promoting bias by mentioning the September 11th attacks and Osama Bin Laden instead of focusing solely the facts in this case.
“It’s alleged, let them prove it. And we’ll see what happens once the evidence comes in. They’ve alleged various things over different continents, and we’ll see if the evidence supports that allegation; those allegations,” said Defense Attorney Jeremy Schneider.
Opening statements in the case will take place on Thursday.
Last month, bin Laden’s son-in-law, Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, was convicted in Manhattan of working as an al-Qaeda spokesman and of trying to recruit Muslims to the terror group after September 11th.
