NBA Fines Jason Kidd $50k Over Spilled Soda Incident

Nets head coach Jason Kidd is in hot water over some cold soda.

The NBA fined Kidd $ 50,000 for intentionally spilling his drink on the court at the Barclays Center during Wednesday night’s game against the Lakers.

The Nets were out of timeouts when Kidd bumped into Brooklyn’s Tyshawn Taylor with 8 seconds left, causing him to drop his soda.

A video showed Kidd appearing to tell Taylor to “hit me” as the guard walked toward the bench.

While the floor was being cleaned the Nets were able to put together a play.

But they still wound up losing 99-94.

Kidd denied any intent after the game, joking that he had sweaty palms.

Richie Incognito was suspended after bullying allegations emerged involving fellow offensive lineman Jonathan Martin.

Richie Incognito won’t be playing against the Jets on Sunday, but he will be getting paid again soon. Incognito’s initial four-game suspension ends after this weekend, but the Dolphins will extend the offensive lineman’s suspension with pay, according to NFL.com.

The league’s collective bargaining agreement prohibits the Dolphins from suspending Incognito without pay for more than four games. According to reports, Incognito was paid for two of the four weeks of his suspension.

Grease fire at legendary Barbetta Restaurant

A grease fire Friday night chased diners out of a landmark Midtown restaurant that has served Bill and Hillary Clinton and claims to be the city’s oldest eatery still owned by the founding family, the FDNY said.

The blaze broke out at about 6:20 p.m. inside Barbetta Restaurant on West 46th Street near 8th Avenue, the FDNY said.

“The fire started in the grease in the duct work and the grease in the kitchen,” said FDNY chief Dan Donoghue, who said the inferno took about 50 minutes to extinguish.

“There were pockets of fire that took awhile to get to.”

The popular restaurant – where Mary J. Blige has also hosted a dinner and silent auction – will remain closed until the fire damage can be repaired, said owner Laura Maioglio.

“I was in the dining room when I heard the chef shouting fire, fire. We immediately evacuated everyone,” said Maioglio.

“It’s very bad because it hits us at the busiest time of the year.”

Nobody was injured in the fire, the FDNY said.

Port Authority Raises Tolls For E-ZPass Users By 75 Cents

The Port Authority is raising fares on its bridges and tunnels for E-ZPass users by 75 cents beginning on Sunday.

That means the off-peak price jumps to $ 9, while peak tolls will go up to $ 11.

The cash price remains at $ 13 for the bridges and tunnels that connect New Jersey and New York.

Tolls are also going up for trucks.

The Port Authority says the extra money is needed for maintenance and upkeep.

But the American Automobile Association is suing over the hikes, saying they’re unreasonable and unjust.

“It’s going to affect everything from clothes to cars as truckers pass along the extra expense of doing business,” said AAA spokesman Robert Sinclair.

“I think it’s ridiculous, didn’t tolls just go up not too long ago?” said one driver.

“We pay enough already I think. There’s a lot of waste that goes on I believe,” said another.

“They’re pretty high now, man. I don’t know what else to tell you, it seems like they go up all the time,” said a third driver.

The hike is the third in a series of five Port Authority toll increases that passed in 2011.

The Port Authority would not comment on the lawsuit.

Isles lose fifth straight in ugly fashion to Red Wings

The Islanders suffer their fifth straight loss in humiliating fashion, falling 5-0 to the Red Wings.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Daniel Alfredsson had two goals and an assist, Darren Helm had two goals and Jimmy Howard made 29 saves and the Detroit Red Wings dominated the Islanders 5-0 on Friday for their first regulation victory against New York in a decade.

Detroit won its third in a row as the reeling Islanders lost their fifth straight.

Since beating Boston 3-1 on home on Nov. 2, the Islanders are 2-10.

New York came into the game with a 6-0-1 mark against Detroit in its past seven meetings. The Red Wings hadn’t beaten the Islanders in regulation since November 2003.

The shutout was the second this season for Howard and the 18th of his career. The 29-year-old goaltender entered with a 0-3-4 record in his past seven starts, allowing at least three goals five times during the streak.

Helm scored his sixth of the season at 7:09 of the first. He took a pass from Alfredsson at the top of the left circle, then skated in and slid a backhand past a flailing Kevin Poulin, making his fifth straight start for the Islanders.

Helm made it 2-0 with a spectacular short-handed score at 16:49 of the second, after he and Poulin lunged for a loose puck in front of the crease.

Helm poked it free and then past the prone goaltender, tumbling upside down to the ice in the process. The goal with Justin Abdelkader in the penalty box brought out boos at Nassau Coliseum.

The 40-year-old Alfredsson, who joined Detroit after 17 seasons with Ottawa, made it 3-0 just 12 seconds into the third, beating Poulin high to the glove side on a breakaway.

Gustav Nyquist scored his fourth of the season at 6:12 of the third, finishing a two-on-one break with Johan Franzen by sending another high shot past Poulin.

Alfredsson completed the scoring, knocking a loose puck past Poulin for his sixth of the season at 16:13 of the third.

The 23-year-old Poulin became New York’s No. 1 goaltender after starter Evgeni Nabokov was injured when the teams met on Long Island on Nov. 16. The Islanders won that game in a shootout, but haven’t recorded a victory since.

Poulin is 2-7 in his past nine appearances.

The game started slowly with an unusual 4 p.m. start time the day after Thanksgiving. The Islanders outshot the Wings 12-9 in the first period. Detroit had a 9-7 shots advantage in the second.

Detroit’s loss on Long Island two weeks ago was part of a stretch when they were 0-2-5 from Nov. 4-19. But the Red Wings have won four of five since, including Wednesday’s 6-1 drubbing of Boston at home.

Detroit played without top center Pavel Datsyuk, who was elbowed in the jaw at Ottawa last Saturday and missed his third straight game. Detroit also scratched forward Todd Bertuzzi, out for a fourth straight game with an upper body injury.

Center Josh Bailey was a healthy scratch for the Islanders for the first time this season. Bailey has no goals and two assists since Oct. 25.

Couple sues after alleged nightmare cruise

The “unforgettable” Grand European cruise a Westchester couple took for their 30th wedding anniversary turned into the trip from hell.

The husband and wife slapped Viking Cruises with a $ 5 million class action lawsuit claiming the company knew its ship was “plagued with electrical problems” before a breakdown that forced guests to be bused around to dreary destinations.

Manhattan attorney James P. Cinque and his wife Marie-Helene Cinque booked their two week jaunt aboard the Viking Magni for Sept. 24 through Oct. 8.

The Viking Cruises brochure boasted an “unforgettable” trip along a “stunning stretch” of the Rhine River with “friendly, attentive, award-winning service,” according the Manhattan civil suit.

But the cruise line allegedly hid from its passengers that the Viking Magni had suffered power issues during the prior cruise.

Ten days into the Cinque’s voyage the electrical system failed again.

“The boat limped into the closest port” and when it could not be fixed, the 200 passengers were loaded onto cramped buses for seven-hour trips between stops, according to court papers.

“The boat shouldn’t have broken down,” James told The Post in an interview.

“It’s not like it was an act of God,” he said.

When the James, 62, and Marie-Helene, 58, asked for a refund and to leave the group, they were told they would have to do so at their own expense.

“We were taken to Frankfurt instead of the beautiful cities along the river,” James said.

“We spent one whole day on the bus. We missed Amsterdam entirely,” he griped.

The attorney said he only filed the suit after all the arguments with Vikings’ customer service reps got him was a 50 percent credit for a future trip.

“I don’t want to go back on one of their cruises. It was horrible,” James said.

The Cinques are demanding a $ 25,000 refund for each passenger.

Reps for Viking did not immediately return requests for comment.

The mother told cops she didn’t bring Sebastian to a hospital when he developed a fever recently because he’d been sick like that in the past and recovered on his own.

“But this time it didn’t have the same results, obviously,” a police source said.

The city medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The mother could end up facing neglect charges, cops said.
