Schumer Touts City’s Progress Since Sandy


Wednesday marks the two-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy devastating parts of the city and region, and Senator Charles Schumer is touting how far the city has come in rebuilding efforts.


Schumer will unveil the “Sandy Infrastructure Inventory” today.


He’s noting $ 17 billion in federal aid the city that helped rebuilding efforts in New York’s infrastructure, including transportation systems and coastal protection measures for future storms.


Schumer says the $ 17 billion figure could grow to $ 25 billion when negotiations with Federal Emergency Management Agency conclude.


He says that money is the largest injection of federal dollars into state infrastructure since the New Deal.
