Police Seek Three Who Allegedly Broke Into Brooklyn House, Killed Man

Police say three men are on the loose after they allegedly broke into a Brooklyn house and killed a man.

Leonard Phillips, 69, was shot in the head in his Ditmas Park home just before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A relative of Phillips told police that the men approached her outside the house and brought her inside.

She said they tied her up and left her downstairs, then went upstairs and killed Phillips.

Neighbors were shaken up.

“We’ve known them ever since we’ve grown up here,” said one neighbor. “They’ve been really good people, you know. We say hello when we pass by. Like, we know them, and you never hear anything bad about them. So it’s shocking to hear such a terrible story to happen to them, you know? It’s sad.”

“It’s very unfortunate. It’s very heartbreaking,” said another. “This is the first time something like this has happened living here for like over 20-something years, so it was like, it’s heartbreaking to find out your neighbor is gone.”

Police don’t yet know if the men stole anything.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit http://ift.tt/17IHIZe.
