Video Shows Suspects Wanted in Transgender Woman’s Attack

Authorities are hoping some newly released video will lead to an arrest in an alleged bias attack in Bushwick last week after a transgender woman was assaulted in the neighborhood.

Police say Friday night the victim was walking to a friend’s house in Bushwick when four men started arguing with her.

Police say one of the men knocked her unconscious with a plexigass board, leaving her on the street.

It happened near Bushwick Avenue and Halsey Street.

Police say a good Samaritan flagged down a police car and the woman was brought to the hospital.

The 28-year-old victim was with another friend at the time.

Friends of the victim held a vigil Tuesday at the spot where the attack happened. They say she moved to the city because she thought it would be a safe place for her to live.

“I’m just overwhelmed because this young woman came to New York from Utah to make a life for herself in a community where she would be safe as a transgender person, and she came all this way only to find violence instead of safety,” one person said.

“It’s like a sister falling aside because of somebody that wants to hate and wants to bash on our community,” another person said.

The victim is listed in critical condition.

Police say the NYPD’s hate crimes unit is investigating.
