DA’s clerk charged with trying to trade info for crack

Now that’s a good wife!

A clerk at the Staten Island District Attorney’s Office scored free crack cocaine for her husband from a convicted drug dealer in exchange for tips on whether he was being investigated by her boss, court documents revealed Tuesday.

Rene Collins, 46, sent error-ridden text messages to dealer Davon Bishop saying, “Hey, its robs wife. Can u give him 2 on the arm til tomorrow nite nd give him ur full name (real name) nd I will chek it out tomorrow nd let u know if any surprises cummn k.”

Cops discovered she was in cahoots with Bishop when they caught him with 43 bags of crack cocaine near the couple’s Staten Island home in Feb. 2013 and arrested him in an undercover buy-and-bust operation in West Brighton.

After witnessing a “hand-to-hand” exchange with Bishop and Collins’ husband, Robert Edmonds, cops followed him to his house and searched him. Collins became “very irate,” screaming at the cops to get away from her hubby and waving her DA identification badge in their faces.

“You know me! My husband hasn’t done anything wrong!” she said, according to a complaint filed by the Conflicts of Interest Board.

A search warrant for Bishop’s cell phone records following his arrest, one of 30 to his name, shows that he and Collins had dozens of interactions between Dec. 2012 and Feb. 2013.

Following her text asking for “2 on the arm,” slang for asking for the drugs for free, Collins wrote, “Hi its Rene I didn’t go to work today im sick so I wil check tomorrow for u also i wil hav ur money before 9 tonite.”

About 10 minutes later, she added, “Also pleas delete my texs thanx.”

Deputy Chief Frey testified that Collins texts show she was using her position at the DA’s office “in exchange for the drugs she would find out whether Bishop was the subject of any narcotics investigations,” according to the complaint.

Collins is facing $ 10,000 in charges for a “calculated decision” to engage in conflicts of interest. She failed to appear at several scheduled court appearances related to this case.
