Assistant principle fined $7K for boosting son’s failing grades

A Manhattan assistant principle is paying big bucks for doctoring his son’s grades.

Abdurrahim Ali, who worked at Bread and Roses Integrated Arts High School, switched nearly a dozen of his son’s grades from failing to passing in the school’s computer system, authorities said.

Ali agreed to pay a fine of $ 7,000 to the New York City Conflicts of Interest Board for logging into the system and altering his son’s scores eleven times between June 22, 2012, and January 14, 2013.

The son attended Bread and Roses from 2009 to 2013.

Ali confessed to fixing his son’s grades.

“Despite a Bread and Roses policy requiring that grade change requesters fill out and sign handwritten grade change forms for all grade changes, I did not fill out any such forms for the changes I made to my son’s grades,” he said, according to the disposition.

Ali admitted to using his city position to benefit his son, someone he’s “associated” with, which violates the City’s conflicts of interest law.

Dr. Rodney Lofton, principal at Bread and Roses Integrated Arts High School had no comment on Ali. “He’s not here now, wasn’t here last year,” he said.

Ali’s salary as assistant principal in 2013 was $ 104,437.
