Thousands attended the annual Brighton Jubilee festival in Brooklyn Sunday.
The festival featured food, shopping, music and rides, all just a block away from the beach.
The event celebrates the neighborhood’s diverse cultural backgrounds.
From vendors that grew up on the block, to musicians from countries including Peru and Russia, organizers say everyone comes together for the Jubilee.
“All different ethnic groups,” said Sherry Falcone of the Brighton Neighborhood Association. “They sell food, clothing. It’s amazing here.”
“With the unrest in the world today, it’s kind of nice to see people getting along here,” said Pat Singer, founder of the Brighton Neighborhood Association. “And today is kind of a celebration of our cultural diversity.”
“This is my people, and I need to give back,” said Edward Aminov of Moxy Station Media.
The annual festival dates back to the 1970s.
