Ebola Preparations Demo Held at Javits Center

One day after announcing revised procedures for dealing with Ebola patients, federal health officials are taking those new steps on the road, starting right here in the city.

The Partnership for Quality Care and the Greater New York Health Association are joining the Centers for Disease Control to demonstrate the new techniques at the Javits Center today.

The new guidelines call for full-body suits and hoods to protect the necks of health workers.

They also set rigorous rules for removing the equipment and disinfecting it, and call for a “site manager” to supervise the process.

Health officials are also asking hospitals to establish designated areas for workers changing into and out of their gear.

The changes come after two Dallas nurses were infected with Ebola while caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person to be diagnosed with the virus in the U.S.
