Traffic Stop Leads Police to Marijuana Ring


A 30-year-old man is man is behind bars after police say a traffic stop led them to uncover the drug ring he ran out of his Queens Village home.


Police say they smelled marijuana when they pulled Nuquan Stewart over last Tuesday night near his apartment.


They say when he got out of the car, they saw six bags of the drug sticking out of his sweatshirt.


Officers say as Stewart was being handcuffed, he asked them if they could check on his 8-year-old son, who was left home alone.


When they arrived at his apartment, they say they found 30 pounds of marijuana, as well as nearly $ 18,000 dollars in cash and two guns.


Smith now faces charges including drug and gun possession, as well as failure to exercise control of a minor.
