Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña is set to announce Wednesday an overhaul of the system for evaluating schools.
The Department of Education says the city will de-emphasize test scores.
Letter grades for schools will also be out, something Mayor de Blasio has been promising.
Instead, schools will be measured on criteria such as strength of curriculum and school environment.
Schools will be ranked from poor to excellent in several different areas. The hope is that the new system will be easier for parents to interpret.
The new assessments will be released for the first time later this fall.
