Public schools across the city are the focus of a massive volunteer project today.
The 23rd annual New York Cares Day Fall kicks off this morning with some 4,000 volunteers helping out at 70 schools across the city.
New York Cares says some volunteers will do art projects and play sports with students, while others will paint school hallways and organize storage spaces.
Organizers say they are focusing on encouraging parents, community members, and students to get involved while creating partnerships with the schools.
The event will continue until about 1 p.m.
