Mayor Bill de Blasio has nominated Mark Peters to be commissioner of the Department of Investigation.
Peters was the chief corruption prosecutor at the New York State attorney general’s office.
He also previously served as the mayor’s campaign treasurer.
Speaking about his choice, de Blasio said, “He is steadfastly committed to ensuring that government works honestly for every citizen, and he will continue to work tirelessly to ensure New York City’s government lives up to the highest ethical standards.”
Before Peters can become the DOI commissioner, he will have to be approved by the City Council.
