Ken Thompson is looking for a larger space to hold his upcoming party.
Either this is Brooklyn’s biggest shindig, or the new district attorney needs a new party planner.
Newly elected Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson has delayed his ballyhooed inaugural bash — originally scheduled for last Sunday — until Feb. 9 in order to hunt down a larger space for the event, according to insiders.
The former federal prosecutor had planned to hold the party in the newly opened Duggal Greenhouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
But the 100,000-square-foot eco-friendly building wasn’t large enough to accommodate Thompson’s growing guest list of supporters and political dignitaries.
It was unclear how many people the inauguration was expected to draw next month, and a chief spokesperson has not been hired yet to answer such questions.
“A lot of people want to come and we want to make sure we have the space,” said an office insider, who couldn’t explain why a new date had been nailed down before a new venue is chosen.
The venue mishap is the latest in a string of organizational hiccup for the new district attorney, who defeated 25-year incumbent Charles Hynes in a pair of primary and general elections last year.
Thompson’s team is still being assembled following a contentious transition period that’s left him with a potential $ 700,000 budget gap. He hasn’t formally named a top new spokesperson, and several mid-management spots still remain open.
He appears to be the last newly elected candidate to hold a formal inauguration ceremony.
