Police are investigating last week’s assault of a theater journalist in Midtown as a possible hate crime.
A candlelight vigil is being held Sunday for 40-year-old Randy Gener, a writer whose work has been featured in the New York Times, the Daily News and other publications.
Police say he was found unconscious with severe head trauma near 54th Street and Seventh Avenue shortly after leaving a party in the early morning hours of January 17.
He was transported to St Luke’s Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
