Fire truck racing to Brooklyn blaze injures man

A second rig had to be sent to a fire Tuesday at 36th St. and 12th Ave. after the first truck struck a pedestrian.




A fire truck racing to a blaze struck and injured a man in Brooklyn on Tuesday.


The unidentified victim, a man in his 30s, was crossing McDonald Ave. near Church Ave. about 10 a.m. when a fire truck from Ladder 148 hit him, officials said.


The rig was heading to a fire in a two-story building on 36th St. near 12th Ave. when the accident took place, sources said.

Firefighters jumped off the truck and rendered aid, dispatching another fire truck to the blaze, sources said.


Paramedics took the injured man to Lutheran Medical Center, where he was in serious but stable condition Tuesday afternoon.


The fire on 36th St. was put out without incident, officials said.
