Five Crew Members Injured as Turbulence Sends Plane Back to Newark Airport


Five crew members were hurt Thursday after a plane that left Newark-Liberty Airport hit heavy turbulence less than an hour after take off.


The United Airlines jetliner was in Canadian air-space when it encountered rough skies.


It returned to Newark safely at around 3:45 p.m.


The Federal Aviation Administration said that all of the injured crew members were flight attendants, but they are expected to be OK.


None of the 189 passengers was hurt.
