Flight operations at John. F. Kennedy Airport resumed Sunday, hours after a passenger jet skidded into a nearby snowbank while attempting to exit onto a taxiway.
No injuries were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration says the plane, Delta Connection flight 4100 from Toronto, landed safely around 8 a.m. but encountered icy conditions while heading toward the taxiway.
The plane was eventually towed to a nearby terminal.
The Port Authority says 35 people were aboard the aircraft.
The conditions on the runway prompted airport officials to suspend domestic and international flights.
Eight flights heading into New York had to be diverted to Bradley International Airport in Connecticut.
“Who knows when we’re gonna get out. It’s like we’re stuck in New York forever,” said one stranded air traveler.
All local airports were experiencing delays Sunday because of the icy conditions.
Travelers are urged to check in with their carriers before heading out.
