A private plane reportedly crashed and burst into flames while attempting to land at an airport in Aspen, Colo.

The Rock Mountains-bound aircraft started in Mexico and stopped in Tucson, Ariz. before the tragic descent at the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.

At least one person is dead and another is seriously injured, reported ABC News.

“Horrible plane crash here at Aspen airport,” comedian Kevin Nealon tweeted. “Exploded into flames as it was landing. I think it was a private jet.”

Nealon said that a fire truck and ambulances arrived on scene in a matter of minutes. He did not think there were any survivors.

LeAnn Rimes witnessed the tragedy and tweeted, “So sad! Horrible plane crash we just saw happen at the Aspen airport.”

Allan Kenitzer, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, told ABC News that the plane appeared to be a Bombardier Challenger 600.

Aspen is roughly 100 miles southwest of Denver.
