Radical lawyer out of prison, returns to Brooklyn


Radical lawyer Lynne Stewart was out of prison and back in Brooklyn Wednesday after a judge allowed her to die of cancer among family.


Stewart, 74, arrived at her son’s home in Prospect Park South to a celebratory feast.

Lynne Stewart will spend her final days in her son’s Prospect Park home. Doctors estimate that she has 18 months to live.


A federal judge in Manhattan granted her “compassionate release” Tuesday due to her terminal breast cancer. Doctors say she has 18 months to live.


“We are very happy she’s home,” said Marta Stewart, Lynne’s daughter-in law.


Lynne Stewart was four years into a 10-year sentence at a Texas federal prison for passing messages from imprisoned terrorist Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman to his followers.
