‘Cake Boss’ rescued after he gets lost on boat in foggy bay

The star of the popular TLC reality show “Cake Boss” was rescued by cops and firefighters after his boat became lost in the fog Friday night on the Ambrose Channel, cops said.

“Want to thank my friends at the nypd and FDNY for coming to help me in my family stuck in the fog…” the Cake Boss himself tweeted after the scary ordeal.

Authorities say the 36-foot Boston Whaler named “Killin’ It,” had power, but the Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, couldn’t maneuver due to low visibility about a mile south of the Verrazano Bridge around 9:30 p.m.

Valastro, who is owner of Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, was navigating the boat out of Sandy Hook, NJ, with his wife, children and other relatives when the fog worsened.

“The Ambrose Channel is a particularly hazardous area,” said fireman Chris Tucker, a seven-year veteran. “It’s the main shipping channel and massive shipping boats run through there 24/7, so we had to get this boat out of there and out of harm’s way.”

They were stranded for over half an hour.

“They were relieved to see us,” Tucker said of the rescue. “It’s like driving blind in fog like that.”

Firefighters with the Summer Boat Program, who regularly rescue stranded boats and people in the water, towed the vessel to safety before the NYPD took over and escorted the boat back to Jersey City.

“Next time we go out at night need to check the forecast #mywifewantstokillme” he posted on Twitter.

No one was injured during the rescue, however authorities say one of the children on board was sea sick.

“It was a perfect example of city agencies working together,” Tucker said.
