Fans Celebrate Germany’s First World Cup Win Since 1990

Germany is the World Cup champion.

The Germans defeated Argentina in extra time, with the winning goal scored by Mario Gotze.

Germany fans in New York celebrated their team’s first win since 1990.

“I’m ecstatic right now. I can’t explain it. Four stars. We’re good to go,” said one fan.

Argentina fans, on the other hand, felt the agony of defeat.

“It’s very emotional. They played an incredible game. I am extremely, extremely proud of Argentina, no matter what. Our boys gave an amazing fight,” said an Argentina fan.

The Empire State Building will be lit up in the German national colors of red, black and gold from sunset until 2 a.m. in honor of their team’s win.
