Police Seek Suspect in Manhattan Rape

Police are asking for help identifying a man they say raped a woman in Manhattan around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the suspect was seen in surveillance video following the victim to her building in Washington Heights.

Once inside, police say he pushed his way into her apartment and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was later taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The incident occurred near 163rd Street and Broadway in Washington Heights.

NY1 spoke with residents who said the incident left them feeling left uneasy.

“I’m going to be more aware of my surroundings and try not to interact with people that, strangers, obviously, that seem dangerous,” said one resident.

“It just makes me feel like I have to be more cautious in this neighborhood now,” said another resident.

Investigators say the suspect is between 20 and 25 years old and around 6 feet, 9 inches tall.

They say he was last seen wearing black pants and a white shirt with dark stripes.
