Five Sought After Central Park Jogger is Wounded by Pellet


Police are asking for the public’s help identifying five teenagers wanted in connection with an assault in Central Park this past week.


Investigators say a group seen in surveillance video hit a woman in the head with a pellet as she was jogging near 60th Street and West Drive shortly after 12 a.m. Monday.

The victim told authorities she saw three men and two women laughing after the random attack, and that she heard them make racist remarks.


Paramedics took the woman to a local hospital for treatment.


She suffered a cut to the back of her head and suffered pain.


Sources say the group may have used an air gun in the assault.


The suspects are described as being between 15 and 20 years old.


The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident.
