Police say a baby girl died after being brought home from day care Friday in Queens Village.
Police say the father of 14-month-old Danielle Okoye picked her up Friday from day care.
When he brought her home, he discovered something was wrong.
They say the girl was unconscious and unresponsive.
She was rushed to a Franklin General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
“When they took the baby to the day care she was healthy. She was fine. All of a sudden she went to sleep. When they come to pick her up, she was still asleep until now. She hasn’t woken up. We’re actually surprised by what happened to her,” said Edward Orjiogo, a friend of the family.
The Medical Examiner in Valley Stream, Long Island will determine the cause of death.
The city’s Administration for Children’s Services is also investigating.
