Sergeants’ Union Advises DNC to Choose Other Venue for Convention

Mayor Bill de Blasio is trying to bring the 2016 Democratic National Convention to Brooklyn, but the Sergeants Benevolent Association says not so fast.

An open letter from the SBA to the chairperson of the Democratic National Committee is running in local papers Tuesday.

It says the city is “lurching backwards to the bad old days” and is not a safe place to host the convention.

The SBA says there’s not enough support for city police officers, and that leads to high crime and poor quality of life.

The union is advising the DNC to choose another venue.
