Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in Coney Island Tuesday.
It happened around 4 p.m. on Mermaid Avenue and 24th Street.
Police say they found a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the legs and mid-section.
Medics took him to Coney Island Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Neighbors say incidents like this are all too common.
“I ain’t expect nothing like this getting off of work, but when it happens it happens. It shouldn’t be happening. There’s a lot of kids out here,” one area resident said.
“This is kind of normal in Coney Island. From what I heard, the guy was shot approximately eight times,” said neighbor Gilbert Tejeda.
“Too much, a lot of people and they see something suspicious—they be quiet. And they say, ‘You snitch, you get…’ You know what I mean,” said Jose Colon of the Guardian Angels.
No arrests have been made.
