City workers are starting to gear up for Ebola.
First Deputy Mayor Anthony Shorris will meet Monday morning with the Municipal Labor Committee and officials from the NYPD, FDNY and the Department of Education — among several other city agencies — to plan a citywide response to Ebola should it take hold in New York City.
“We set up this meeting to make sure that we are communicating with every aspect of our workforce about the steps we’re taking to keep them out of harm’s way, and the steps we need to take together to keep this entire city safe,” Shorris said.
The mayor’s office called the meeting so public employees will know how the infection is spread and what safety measures are in place. The Municipal Labor Committee is an umbrella group representing more than 300,000 public employees.
Other agencies that will attend include: the Office of Labor Relations, the Health Department, the Health and Hospitals Corporation, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services.
