Former Assemblywoman Gets One Year, One Day in Prison For Fraud

Former Manhattan Assemblywoman Gabriela Rosa was sentenced Friday to one year and one day in prison for fraud.

Rosa pleaded guilty to charges back in June that included lying to immigration authorities about her marriage to get U.S. citizenship and making false statements to a federal bankruptcy court.

She was elected in 2012 to represent parts of Inwood and Washington Heights but resigned in June following the charges.

Rosa is expected to begin her prison sentence on November 24.
