An official in Al Sharpton’s National Action Network is accusing high-profile attorney Sanford Rubenstein of sexual assault.
Sources tell NY1 that it happened after Sharpton’s birthday party on Wednesday.
According to sources, two women went with Rubenstein back to his Manhattan home after the party.
One woman left, the other stayed at the home. Sources say she had something to drink, felt dizzy and passed out.
The next morning she woke up and saw condoms on the floor.
She went home and called authorities to report she had been raped.
Rubenstein’s lawyer says: “Mr. Rubenstein vehemently denies any misconduct.”
Al Sharpton says: “The allegations as reported occurred at a private residence after a NAN event and had nothing to do with NAN nor Rev. Al Sharpton, therefore we have no comment at this time.”
Sharpton describes her as a top National Action Network official. According to the New York Post, she is a 42-year-old executive.
Rubenstein has represented many of the city’s prominent police brutality cases, and has close ties to Sharpton. He is currently representing Eric Garner’s family.
