A federal report indicates a Metro-North engineer whose speeding train derailed in the Bronx was speeding on the same run a few days earlier.
The National Transporation Safety Board says William Rockefeller broke the speed limit on four separate occasions—according to results collected from data recorders.
At one point his train was going 54 miles per hour in a 30 MPH zone.
Rockefeller was at the helm of a Metro North train on December 1 when it derailed in the Bronx, killing four passengers and injuring more than 70 others.
A federal report found he was heading into a 30 mile per hour curve at 82 miles per hour.
Rockefeller apparently suffers from sleep apnea and reported losing focus in the moments before the crash.
