The NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating after video surfaces showing police beating two Brooklyn teens in separate arrest incidents.
A video taken on August 29 in Bedford-Stuyvesant appears to show 16-year-old Kahreem Tribble running away from police officers, then stopping before one officer throws a punch at this head and another hits him with a gun.
One of the officers has been suspended, while the other is on desk duty pending an investigation.
Tribble’s attorney says all charges against his client were dropped.
In June, 17-year-old Marcel Hamer was on his way home from school when police arrested him for disorderly conduct.
His lawyers and family say the officers thought the teen was smoking marijuana, when in fact it was a cigarette.
“The neighbors on the block called me and told me I need to get to the scene right away—that my son was bring abused by the police,” said Mary Hamer, Marcel’s mother.
“After he’s already thrown and helpless, the police officer knocks him unconscious. Why?” said Arthur Hill, Marcel’s attorney.
The city is promising a full investigation into both cases.
