The mayor at one point joked that he could barely see Cornegy’s predecessor, Al Vann, who was seated behind the political giant.

“I want to look him in the eye, but I can’t,” said de Blasio, speaking at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Brooklyn.

“Robert, you’re doing that tall thing again. You are being extremely tall.” The towering de Blasio, who is almost always the tallest man in the room, couldn’t stop talking about Cornegy’s stature.

“I’d like to say I could see Al during the standing ovation but I was blocked once again by Rob Cornegy,” he joked.
