Human Remains Discovered in Queens Could be Those of Missing Teen Avonte Oquendo

Police are looking into the discovery of human body parts in Queens that could be the remains of missing autistic teen Avonte Oquendo.

The remains, which reportedly include a human arm and a sneaker, were found washed ashore near College Point at around 8 p.m. Thursday.

The 14-year-old Oquendo vanished in October after running away from his school in Long Island City, leading to a massive search that went on for weeks.

The medical examiner is working to identify the remains and determine the cause of death.

According to several online and broadcast reports, Oquendo’s family has been briefed on the discovery, but there’s currently no direct evidence linking the remains to Oquendo.
