NFL puts price on head trauma related illnesses

There’s now a price on head trauma-related injuries in the NFL.


Lou Gehrig’s disease is worth up to $ 5 million; death involving brain trauma, $ 4 million; and dementia equates to $ 3 million under a payout plan announced Monday by lawyers for the retired NFL players in the proposed $ 765 million settlement of thousands of concussion-related claims.

“The compensation provided in this settlement will lift a heavy (financial) burden off of the men who are suffering,” said Kevin Turner, a plaintiff and ex-player who is battling ALS.
