Snow Alert in Effect Citywide as Winter Storm Arrives

New Yorkers are preparing for a storm that could drop up to a foot of snow on the city before it tapers off early Wednesday.

A winter storm warning will be in effect from noon through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Snowfall is expected to start coming down around midday and get heavier through the afternoon and evening rush, but the city says it is ready.

The Sanitation Department has issued a snow alert for today and cancelled alternate side of the street parking, though you’ll still have to feed the meters.

The department says all 365 of its salt spreaders are ready to hit the streets when the storm comes.

The snow plows are equipped with GPS so they can be tracked online.
